Truth-I Lingenheld

Timothy “Truth-I” Lingenheld found qigong in 2002, after a near-death ski accident had left him with torn muscles, sprained back, and badly broken lower left leg in 2001.  After surgeries, a titanium rod/screws, six months of crutches, and six more months of physical therapy, a year later, the injury still caused pain during exercise and left him unable to return to a previously athletic lifestyle.  Fortunately, he had begun to study meditation during his long recovery and was then introduced to a local Falun Gong group, whose qigong practices proved helpful with pain relief, and rebuilding strength, flexibility, joint mobility and alignment.
In 2004, while hitchhiking in search of spiritual teachers and community, he met Sifu Shane Ione on a beach in La Paz, Baja California, and was invited to come and train at his compound in Arizona.  There, Truth-I was introduced to Wuji standing meditation, Yi Jin Jing (Muscle/Tendon Changing) and Ba Kua (8 Trigram) qigong, and began a daily practice that continues today!
In 2005, upon moving to Los Angeles, he met Sifu Marcus Lovemore, a healer and disciple of Sifu Chris Kent, the successor of Bruce Lee’s disciple Sifu Dan Inosanto.  Truth-I became his apprentice until 2008, learning Ba Duan Jin (8 Silk Brocades) and Three Centers Merge qigong, Wu Dan nei gong, Yang-style tai chi, and Jeet Kun Do. Sifu Lovemore also trained Truth-I in Te-Ooma Re, a Maori-style of deep energy work and fascia release.
In 2008, Truth-I became a student of Sifu Minoru Richard Hata, D.S.M., until 2012, learning Maoshan Tao, a system of ancient esoteric Taoist energy cultivation practices and Five Element xingyichuan, with both martial and medical applications. Sifu Hata’s Maoshan lineage through Sijo Patrick Moon and Grandmaster Andrew Lum, disciple of Chinese defector, Lum Tai Yung, included rare metaphysical principles that have become fundamental to Truth-I’s practice. From 2012 to 2014, he studied at Daoist Traditions College of Oriental Medicine, learning Tai Yu Shen Gong from Dr. Jeffrey Yuen, 88th-generation Taoist Priest of the Huashan Jade Purity lineage. Although Truth-I withdrew prior to graduation and never became an acupuncturist, the deep study of meridians and Taoist qi theory was enormously beneficial to his practice and application.
His teaching experience include many private practice groups and workshops over the years from Los Angeles to Asheville.  In addition, from 2006-2012, Truth-I taught qigong, yoga, meditation, breathwork, and bodyweight fitness classes while working as a trainer at the world-renowned Ashram Health Retreat in Los Angeles, sharing these profound and effective wellness practices with over 2200 of America’s leaders in business, entertainment, and politics.
After focusing on music, family, and a chocolate business with his wife for a decade, while deepening his personal practice, Truth-I began teaching again in 2023. He also resumed kung fu training in 2024 with Shifu Aaron Dison, disiciple of Shifu Li Chunling,.in Cheng baguazhang, Chen taijichuan, and Five Element xingyichuan,
His classes are well suited for all levels, with focus on stretching, strengthening, balancing, and aligning the body’s structures from the inside out, while clearing the mind and building awareness of internal energy in the dan tiens and meridian system.  Truth-I uses both passive standing postures and dynamic movement exercises from various traditional forms to keep students engaged, challenged, and making progress in each class.
